Concept
Inspired by the poem Helen Keller by Langston Hughes, Selene is a multi-state lamp that reveals an inner glow through movement. This was my first experience in a college-level studio: DEA 2750 Light InForming Space. I completed this project individually in Spring 2020.
Initial Concept Statement
"Inner Light, Revealed"
A crescent form curls upward with a pool of black sand at its base. Its precarious balance invites you to interact. As you tip the crescent, the sand cascades away to reveal a warm light in stark contrast. From darkness, an inner light is found.
